Upgrading Works to Bainton Level Crossing 4-7th December

Network Rail will be conducting works to upgrade the Bainton Level crossing in Helpston this weekend.  The works are required to improve reliability and to ensure that the crossing remains fit for purpose for many years to come. Passengers, road users and pedestrians will be advised that the works to install the barriers will mean that a section of Tallington Road at the crossing will be closed from 18.00 on Saturday 4th December, until 06.30pm on Tuesday 7th December. During this time, a clearly signposted diversion route will be in place for drivers. This work will not impact on train services.

Previously similar improvements have been carried out at Bainton Green level crossing, but these final works will enable a more resilient railway and more importantly that the crossing can be used reliably and safely.

Stewart Bewick, Project Manager for Network Rail, said: “This vital work to upgrade the barriers at Bainton level crossing will make sure it remains reliable for train services and for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

“Along with the upgrades at Bainton Green level crossing, the work will improve safety and reduce disruption for people in the community.

“The improvements can only take place safely when the section of the road at the level crossing is closed and I’d like to thank people in advance for their patience.”
